On November 9th, 2020, Hoa Sen University (HSU) - a member of Nguyen Hoang education Group (NHG) held the Announcement ceremony of the Faculty of Law.
The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Hung Cuong - Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former Minister of Justice, Chairman of Viet Nam Peace & Development Foundation; Mr. Dante Brandi - Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC); Mr. Rostás Gábor - Deputy Consul General of Hungary in HCMC; Mr. Nguyen Vinh Huy - Vice Chairman of Viet Nam Notary Association; Mr. Audier Nicolas - Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (EuroCham) as well as over 50 business partners, including Law firms, representatives of major domestic and international socio-economic enterprises, namely the LMP Lawyers, RHTLaw Viet Nam, Audier & Partners, LPVN Law, Online Mobile Service Joint Stock Company (MoMo e-wallet), VASS Vietnamese American School System, etc.; representatives of National agencies, namely the HCMC Labour Confederation, Civil Judgement Enforcement authorities of districts, People’s Court of districts; and the press.
The delegation of NHG attending the ceremony was Mr. Nguyen Tien Tuan - Head of the Office of Communications – Marketing - Branding Department. From Hoa Sen University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien - HSU President, Dr. Nguyen Thi My Hanh - Head of the Digital Business Law department along with lecturers of the Law Faculty and HSU students.
Viet Nam’s extensive integration into the global economy bringing the development of science and digital technology has brought up many opportunities as well as challenges facing all industries, according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien - HSU President. Without exception, the legal field needs to implement changes suitable for the digital era 4.0 with the emphasis on producing manpower having a growth mindset and legal competence. To meet with such demand, Hoa Sen University reached the decision to establish the Law Faculty in line with the Decree No. 837/QĐ-ĐHHS dated May 7th, 2020. Having the motto Learning for Leadership, HSU Law Faculty incorporates the latest scientific innovations in teaching and learning methodology to encourage leadership thinking and creative research; improve and renew the public policy in the fields of jurisdiction, economy, environment, cyber security, e-commerce, intellectual property, administration, criminal affairs, international law and treaty and human rights.

The Faculty of Law includes 02 departments, namely the Business Law and International Law with 02 majors - Digital Business Law and International Trade Law which officially begins accepting students in the 2021-2022 academic year. Particularly, HSU Law Faculty is proud to be the first institution to offer the undergraduate degree in Digital Business Law. This strategic move is not only suitable for the development of Viet Nam in the current context of international integration, but it will also resolve the needs for high-quality manpower for the law industry, open up many career opportunities and optimize the competitiveness between the legal graduates on the market.
In line with its strategy, Hoa Sen University aims to elevate the Law Faculty to a leading reputable Legal educational institution of Viet Nam and South East Asia by creating a cutting-edge study environment and quality of training. Furthermore, the Faculty is promoting international partnership with major universities around the world to carry out students exchange programs, joint training programs and comprehensive cooperation in the fields of education, culture and scientific research.
In his remark, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Hung Cuong - Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former Minister of Justice, Chairman of Viet Nam Peace & Development Foundation sent his congratulations to HSU Faculty of Law. “The establishment of the Law Faculty truly coheres with the practical needs of society. The labour market is calling for Legal graduates with proficient legal knowledge, good critical thinking, soft skills, foreign language and flexible work adaptation”, says Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Hung Cuong. He also expressed his expectations of the outstanding success and development of HSU Law Faculty in the time to come.

Deputy Consul General of Hungary of HCMC, Mr. Rostás Gábor continued the ceremony with his fervent speech to congratulate the HSU Board of Management along with the Law Faculty lecturers and staff on the occasion. Mr. Rostás Gábor affirmed that the development of the Law Faculty under Hoa Sen University would mark an important milestone in the over-70-year bilateral partnership between Viet Nam and Hungary. The Deputy Consul General of Hungary would be delighted to strengthen and further stimulate the educational partnership between Hoa Sen University and Hungarian higher education.

The event concluded solemnly and successfully with the transfer ceremony of the Establishment decision of the Law Faculty between the representative of HSU Board of Management - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien, HSU President and the representative of HSU Law Faculty - Dr. Nguyen Thi My Hanh under the observation of the guests of honor, officially placing the Law Faculty among the 7 fundamental Faculties of Hoa Sen University with 37 undergraduate programs.

The announcement ceremony of the Law Faculty - Hoa Sen University took place concurrently with the Law Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (November 9th, 2020). To celebrate the Law Day, HSU Law Faculty organised the “Intellectual Legal students” with the participation of over 50 HSU students. The contest is a useful educational playground, aiming to equip students with legal knowledge in casual scenarios. 13 teams succeeded through 2 rounds: Multiple choice questions and critical thinking with 05 prizes, namely 01 First place (VND 3,000,000), 01 Second place (VND 2,000,000), 01 Third place (VND 1,500,000) and 02 Consolation prizes (VND 1,000,000 each). |
